Musings on the MUSE Awards: Vanessa Williams, My Ugly Betty Fixation, & More
Last week the New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) hosted the 30th annual MUSE Awards to honor some of the top women in the entertainment industry. The women honored included star of Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty Vanessa Williams, CEO of PMK*BNC Cindi Berger, and President of A&E Television Networks Abbe Raven.
Now, I know every blog I write seems to gush over celebrities, but what can I say? I’m a TV junkie, whether it’s reality or drama, and by far Ugly Betty was one of my favorite shows EVER! Clearly, any concept involving fashion magazines catches my attention. I kid you not, when I found out Ugly Betty was canceled, I mourned for weeks. So of course I was super-anxious to catch a glimpse of Desperate Housewives’ newest neighbor and vixen, Vanessa Williams, in person. From staying in shape to advice on how to make it in the industry, Vanessa dishes to PageDaily TV! (Watch the video above!) P.S. For all of you Ugly Betty fans out there . . . Vanessa Williams is just as gorgeous and snarky in person as Wilhelmina Slater!
Ok, I digress. At the MUSE Awards, it felt absolutely amazing to be in the presence of women who have made it to the top in their professions. Starting at the bottom of the ladder as a receptionist and climbing her way up to CEO, Cindi Berger is now one of the most powerful and influential women in PR. When we asked her about a typical day, she explained that she was running late that morning because she had to take a call from Robert Redford. Seriously? When Robert Redford is calling you, that’s when you know you’ve made it!
