My perfect date would be an afternoon at the theather (hopefully to see La Cage au Folle) again, and then a fabulous dinner. A nice massage somewhere in there wouldn’t hurt either.

My perfect Valentine’s Day date has actually already occured. And it, was just as perfect as any dream could have foretold.

Back in 2002, my husband was deploying to Afghanistan. After a month at a pre-deployment base for readiness training, etc. he called me to let me know they were leaving that weekend and I should run over to the base (in a rental) to collect our car as he didn’t want to leave it on base. We had a wonderful couple of days and I packed him up to leave and we said good-bye on 2/13. A couple of hours later, I was still in our room on base as it was only 10AM, when I heard a key in the door and my hubby walked in with a big grin on his face. His Commanding Officer had found out that his wife was on base, and since we were newlyweds who had canceled our honeymoon for the abrupt deployment after 9/11 (we were married on 7/31/01), he had been selected to hang back a couple of days and fly over with the cargo plan and oversee the cargo. We spent the next two days together, going to Nashville for a marvelous dinner and day on the town and just basically enjoyed ourselves for a super-long valentine’s day date. He left on 2/16/11 and I returned home. Although the date was perfect and a wonderful gift, my hubby never returned from Afghanistan as he was killed on 5/19/02. I’ll never forget those couple of extra days and even got a chance to personally thank the officer who made them possible. It truly WAS the PERFECT Valentine’s day date. I doubt anything will ever surpass those 2 days.

My dream Valentine’s Day date? With that perfect someone that everyone tells me is out there, some place warm & tropical (I am tired of the snow), picnic lunch and a sunset dive into the ocean. Followed by champagne & chocolate dipped strawberries.

SIGH a girl can dream. :)

I just got diagnosed with cancer in October and my boyfriend lives for hours away. He works all the time so the last time I saw him was thanksgiving and I didnt even get to kiss him or snuggle with him because I have to be careful not to catch any germs (it will delay my chemo). A perfect valentines day date would be snuggled up on the couch with my love (preferably with my hair back) watching gushy love movies, scary movies, and action movies all day; pigging out on the foods I havent been allowed to eat during treatments; and making out with my wonderful boyfriend who has been my rock thru this whole thing! (I love you mondo! Your such an inspriration!) <33
