- “Eat breakfast like a Queen, lunch like a Princess and dinner like a pauper”- People tend to save their calories for dinner, when their metabolism is at its slowest. Instead, the majority of your calories should be eaten at breakfast allowing more time for your body to burn off the calories consumed.
- Carbs are your friends…if they are high in fiber. A diet lacking in carbohydrates will lead to feelings of hunger and deprivation, and ultimately unwise diet decisions. Fill up on high fiber carbohydrates which leave you feeling full for longer periods of time.
- Not all coffee is created equal. A small skim latte is equal in carbohydrates (15g) to a single slice of white bread. Instead, opt for an iced coffee with a splash of milk.
- Splurge on fruits and vegetables, as long as they are the right kind. Opt for non-starchy vegetables such as hearts of palm, carrots, artichoke hearts and broccoli which are all low in carbs and calories. When it comes to fruits, berries, apples and pears are your best friends, as they have the highest fiber content.
