Jewelry Trend for Spring 2011: Fall in Love with Fabric (and More!)
By Katrina Caspelich
We can’t get enough of a favorite 2011 spring fashion trend: fashion must-haves made from chiffon, denim, and leather. We want more, more, more, but head-to-toe leather is a little too Mad Max for us. And 1 blouse, 1 pair of pants, or 1 handbag in any outfit just isn’t satisfying enough. A new way to sport some of our favorite 2011 spring fashion trends? Jewelry! Beads, chains, and all things sparkly are staples for girlie glam. But for your 2011 accessories, try a fresh take on costume jewelry and opt for pieces made with silk, denim, leather, lace, and more.
Jewelry made from fabric and other materials is THE jewelry trend for spring 2011. Here, our 7 favorite jewelry accessories to rock this spring trend.
1. Jewelry Trend Spring 2011: Silk Jewelry
Add some flair to any outfit with this brightly colored, silk georgette 12k-gold-plated metal adjustable ring. We love our cocktail rings, but spring 2011 accessory trends demand a lighter look. Try this lightweight Kate Spade Flower Ring (in Flo Pink) for $55. You get a 2011 spring fashion trend bonus since this silk fabric ring works the floral angle as well—another must-try trend for spring 2011.
2. Jewelry Trend Spring 2011: Acrylic Jewelry
Opt for spring fashion jewelry that lets you channel your inner sailor. Make waves on the high-fashion seas with this nautically inspired acrylic and metal Madewell On the Ropes Necklace, for $48. Alone or layered with other necklaces, such as pearls, chains, and pendants, it’s the perfect way to work the spring 2011 accessory trend.
3. Jewelry Trend Spring 2011: Leather Jewelry
Obsessed with your leather jacket? Spring is here, and soon those leather fashion looks will be hibernating for spring and summer. Get more leather every day with a funky new way to wear one of our favorite materials as an accessory for spring. You’ll love this House of Harlow 1960 Leather & Crystal Cocktail Ring for $70.
4. Jewelry Trend Spring 2011: Snakeskin Jewelry
Show some skin and accessorize for spring with this Ted Rossi Python Curve Cuff for $98. Made from python, this works-with-almost-everything-we-wear cuff is a spring must-have, adding excitement to your signature look. Preorder yours now!
5. Jewelry Trend Spring 2011: Lace Jewelry
Accessories with embellishments? Beads, sequins, and rhinestones—we’ve seen it all in the spring 2011 accessory trends. But with this pair of Anthropologie Feather Lace Earrings, accessorized accessories never looked so good! These earrings, handmade from metal, rayon, and cotton, are not only unique but practically weightless. You can pick up these lace fabric jewelry accessories for your spring wardrobe for just $28.
6. Jewelry Trend Spring 2011: Denim Jewelry
Denim is a staple in most of our closets, as well as one of the most popular spring 2011 accessory trends, so why not wear more of it? As you trade in your dark jeans for bold prints and other bright, spring fashion trends, keep the denim as part of your spring fashion jewelry style with this Ted Rossi Tie Dye Denim Zipper Cuff, $82. A denim item perfect to rock year-round. From the zipper detail to the tie-dye print, wearing this cuff will feel like wearing your favorite denim jeans.
7. Jewelry Trend Spring 2011: Cotton Jewelry
Start a new conversation this spring with a statement necklace in fabric. We love this Asos Strung Statement Necklace on Rope, $26.90. Made from wood, resin, and cotton, this wearable work of art is perfect with a plain white T-shirt and jeans.

PageDaily Awards: Best Bras, Body Slimmers & Body Shapers
By Daniela Apeloig
No Need for Girdles Here!
Wish you rocked your own personal runway with a body like the Victoria Secrets Angels? Not all bodies are created equal—or proportionate. We know, life is unfair! To level the field—and our tummies—most of us need to tame what nature intended. Think body slimmer to hold in a muffin top or saddlebags, bras that minimize your bust or enhance it. Bodies bulge where they shouldn’t, clothes don’t lie right—fashion emergencies that are easy to fix. To the rescue: the PageDaily Awards for Best Bras, Body Slimmers & Body Shapers. You’ll lose inches and look sexy without going on a diet. We know, you love us. Share the love, and the skinny on these PageDaily Awards, with your friends.
PageDaily Awards for Best Bras, Body Slimmers & Body Shapers Go To . . .
1. Best Waist Cincher: TC Fine Intimates Just Enough Hi-Waist Shapewear Brief
The only muffin tops you want near you are 100 calorie VitaTops. If your mid-section is the source of all of your fashion-fit trouble, go with the TC Fine Intimates Just Enough Hi-Waist Shapewear Brief for $36. This comfortable high-waisted underwear gives you firm control for a flatter stomach and a smooth silhouette under clothes. It has silicone grippers inside so the briefs don’t ride up. And no visible panty lines! This tummy tucker has a cotton lining so you can wear it as underwear.
2. Best Thigh Slimmer: Spanx Slim Cognito Shaping Mid-Thigh Bodysuit
Kiss those saddlebags goodbye with the Spanx Slim Cognito Shaping Mid-Thigh Bodysuit. Not only will this slim your thighs, but you won’t have to worry about those stomach, rear end, and hip bulges either. This body shaper runs $72–$76 and comes with removable straps that attach to any bra. We may never take it off.
3. Best Back Smoother: TC Fine Intimates Even More Firm Control Torsette
Back fat? It only sounds like something from a Seinfeld episode until it happens to you! And when it does, you won’t be laughing. Don’t cry either. You can wear your own bra while smoothing any spillage with the TC Fine Intimates Even More Firm Control Torsette, $59. Wear that clingy dress you love and hide the back-fat bulge with this body shaper that holds in your waist and flattens the areas around your undergarments.
4. Best Minimizer Bra: Maidenform Lilyette Custom Fit Lace Minimizer Bra
To those of you on the more flat-chested end of the spectrum, you may regard the well-endowed with envy. But the grass is always greener, as those with large breasts will tell you. Common complaints: back pain and inadequate support from their bras. If you have a large chest and want to appear smaller while getting the right support and coverage, then this Maidenform Lilyette Custom Fit Lace Minimizer Bra is the best bra for large breasts. Its lace and crisscross detail will hold you in sexy style, and its budget-friendly price, $18.99, will make you smile.
5. Best Push-Up Bra: Maidenform Like Magic Extreme Push-up Bra
If your small breasts make you feel ho-hum, make them go va-va-voom with Maidenform Like Magic Extreme Push-up Bra, $27.20. This push-up bra instantly adds 2 cup sizes with its extreme padding. The plunging neckline and straps that convert to a crisscross back make this push-up bra versatile. So, go big and go out wearing a variety of shirts, dresses, tank tops, and more.
6. Best Strapless Bra: Simone Perele Velia Strapless Plunge Bra
Won’t go braless? Can’t find a strapless bra that stays put? Your days of bypassing a strapless dress or skimpy tank top are history. The comfortable Simone Perele Velia Strapless Plunge Bra, $82, fits so well, you won’t even notice that the straps are missing. And the plunging neckline means this bra also works under low-cut clothes. The bra comes with matching adjustable straps to take you from strapless to crisscross, halter, and traditional. If you’ve got sexy, revealing clothes, this is the strapless bra for you.
7. Best Convertible Bra: Frederick’s Nine World Wonders Convertible Bra Kit
With 2 underwire cups and a variety of removable clear and elastic straps, Frederick’s Nine World Wonders Convertible Bra Kit gives its bra 9 lives—halter, strapless, open back, cross front, racer back, one strap, low front, low back, or asymmetrical. For $39, the price and the versatility along with the fit will have you purring with pleasure.
8. Best Backless Bra: Fashion Forms Nu Bra Ultralite Backless Bra
Want to bring sexy back? There’s nothing sexy about your bra strap showing with clothes that are low-cut in back. Fashion Forms NuBra Ultralite Backless Bra to the rescue. The self-adhesive bra cups, $32, attach to each other with an adjustable front closure, are washable, and can be reused up to 50 times. For a seamless look plus lift, this bra is perfect under backless or strapless tops and dresses.
9. Best Camouflage Lingerie: MySkins Seamless Bra & MySkins Seamless Panties
Want to wear sheer shirts, white jeans, and nude dresses without putting your underwear on display? MySkins Seamless Bras and MySkins Seamless Panties come in 20 skin-matching colors that make you look bare—but you’re not. No matter your skin color, you’ll find your match, from honey, caramel, and toffee to cappuccino, hazelnut, and espresso. Bras, $60, come in 3 styles: tee shirt, plunge, and convertible. For panties, $12, choose from a full-cut brief, girl short, or thong.
10. Best Plunge Bra: Victoria’s Secret U-Plunge Push-Up Bra
Channeling the plunging J Lo look, but double-stick tape isn’t your idea of a bra? You can steal the scene in your deep V-neck ensemble without your bra being seen. The Victoria’s Secret U-Plunge Push-Up Bra, $42, has pads for moderate lift and convertible straps to wear in a halter, crossback, or classic style.
11. Best Seamless Panty: Commando Low-Rise Thong
Visible panty lines? Oh, the horror! Banish the “OMG VPL!” fashion emergency without going commando. The Commando Low-Rise Thong, $20, has laser-cut edges but no elastic or other trim. The result: the thong fits flat against your body, giving you the naked look without the naked.
Now, no matter where baby’s got fat, you can make sure your fab fashion fits the way it should with the best bras, body shapers, and shapewear.

Winter Wardrobe Blues? Shop Your Closet for New Fashions for Winter!
By Nancy Rotenier
Anybody already sick of their winter wardrobe, raise your hand! Winter is only one-third over, but our cold-weather clothes are wearing out their welcome. Pencil skirt? Been there. Black booties? Done that. Trendy must-have fashion is turning to “must I wear that again?!” Even wardrobe basics like jeans or an LBD are becoming a fashion yawn. Think you have nothing to wear? Think again. Create new looks from old favorites with these 5 simple fashion tips to shop your closet. You’ll get over the winter wardrobe blues without spending a dime. And cheer up. It’s almost time to shop for spring fashion trends!
1. Give a Summer Tank Top or T-Shirt a Winter Fashion Spin
Warm up your winter with your summer tanks tops and tees. The best T-shirts and tanks for winter style are straight-cut or fitted. Wear them under a shrunken blazer or chunky sweater with jeans for day. For a dressier look, pair them with a pencil skirt and tight little cardigan. Throw on a few strands of chains and pearls à la Chanel, and you’ll be winter-style ready.
2. Update Winter Wear: Make Dressy Jewelry Part of an Everyday Look
Stop saving the good stuff for special occasions. An ordinary weekday is occasion enough for fine jewelry to give new life to your winter wardrobe. That triple-strand of pearls you inherited, that gold locket from your boy—they are on trend in a season full of ladylike looks and long pendant necklaces. Wear your jewelry with work or evening looks, from a cashmere sweater to your favorite LBD. This trick works just as well with your costume jewelry, so no need to feel left out of the fun if all you have is the fake stuff—we love costume jewelry. Make your winter look feel new—all it takes is an accessory.
3. Add Winter Boots & Wear an Evening Piece by Day
You’ve worked a look from day to night. Now, double your winter fashion fun when you wear your night look by day. Wear a sparkly sequin or beaded top, short-sleeves preferable, and leave it slouchy with jeans, cargo pants, or winter shorts, a big fall fashion trend. Then layer a grandpa cardigan for a funky vintage feel. Or try pairing a simple, solid-color strapless or slip dress with black tights and an edgy black boot—combat, motorcycle, wedge-heel. Add a chunky sweater—pullover or cardigan—then top it with a skinny belt in black patent leather or leopard print.
4. Cold Weather Fix: Give a Particular Piece of Clothing a New Purpose
The fastest fix for fashion boredom is to wear an article of clothing in an unintended way. Turn your mini dress into a tunic when you wear it over slim black cigarette pants or skinny jeans. Pair it with a long necklace and a feminine shoe—think ballet flat or kitten-heel slingback. Or wear sexy lingerie, like a lace-trimmed camisole, with a tailored piece, such as a blazer, pants, or straight skirt. Work this look with Tip 2 and accessorize with some classic jewelry. You’ll feel winter-fashion-reborn.
5. Add a Splash of Color to Cure Your Winter Blues
Going to keep wearing black until they come up with something darker? Listen up, color-phobic fashionistas—nothing will kiss those winter fashion blues goodbye like a splash of color. Try lipstick, a ribbon in your hair, costume jewelry, a belt, a brightly colored purse or clutch. Have a colored T-shirt from summer? Work Tip 1, or layer the shirt over a white or black long-sleeve tee. Warm colors like yellows, reds, pinks, corals, and more will snap up your look with a little summer sunshine. Only 5 months and counting!
