Top 10 Sexy Side Hairstyles

Side hairstyles are the latest trend on the red carpet and we can see why! Lucy Hale showed how the quick style change can make tousled waves look like a chic updo. Just pull one side of your hair back with a few bobby pins and spray with a light hold hairspray, such as Phyto Phytolaque Soie Light Hold Hair Spray ($32, Ulta.com), to keep in place.

A casual way to work the side hairstyle is with a braid like Whitney Port’s. What sets this one apart from others is that it starts super loose on top but gets more and more structured as you move down the braid. Start with loose waves (maybe even tease a little!) and then braid halfway down the head.

The easiest way to get that sideswept look is with a deep side part like Jaime King’s. Because her hair is short, she didn’t have to pin any hair back. She just placed front strands behind her ear and gave the illusion of a side style. Styling tip: use a light dab of pomade, such as Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Grooming Pomade ($18, Drugstore.com), to keep hair behind ear. But use just a tad because you don’t want hair to look greasy.Sexy Short Celebrity Hairstyles
In our opinion, the side pony can never go out of style. Sparks turned this 80s trend 2012 appropriate by placing the ponytail directly underneath the left ear and softening with loose strands on the other side. To get that tousled look, use a texturizing spray, such as Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel ($25, Buy.com), and scrunch with your fingers.
Nikki Reed was channeling Jessica Rabbit at The MTV Movie Awards with this side-swept updo. To get the look, create a side part and separate the strands you want to keep in front. Gather the rest of the hair and pin back in an updo or bun. Create that shine with a serum, such as Nexxus Pro-Mend Smoothing Shine Serum ($12.99, Walgreens.com).

Two french braids can look a little childish, but pairing one with beachy waves like Christina Milian did is super sultry. To recreate, create a side par tand braid along your hairline, but stop at the nape of the neck. Hold hair in place with bobby pins. Let your locks fall to the side naturally. Use a sea salt spray, such as KMS California Hair Play Sea Salt Spray ($16, Baycitiesbeautystore.com), to get a little movement.
Isla Fisher
Side-swept bangs make the side style even more dramatic. Isla Fisher paired her short bangs with a messy side braid to downplay her dress. Tame your flyaways with Ouidad Climate Control, Frizz & Flyaway Fighter Taming Spray ($22, Ulta.com).
Play up your favorite messy bun by placing it on the side like Lenay Dunn, the host of 10 On Top did. Pull out strands in the bun and around the face for a fun carefree look.
If you want to amp up your side pony, take a cue from Audrina Patridge. The TV personality french braided one side while leaving the strands on the other side loose, voluminous and then secured in a low pony. Use a root lifting spray, such as Living Proof Full Root Lifting Spray ($26, Nordstrom.com), to give locks on top that oomph.

One of our favorite looks from the Oscars this year was Stacy Keibler’s who went with a simple sideswept ‘do. Just twist and pin! Lay off the hairspray for sexy, touchable hair.
