A few nights ago, Lindsay Leff and I received invites to one of the coolest previews we’ve been to in a long time: Katherine Kwei’s S/S 2011 Private Preview. And for us, only one word comes to mind when reminiscing about the night . . . . amazing! From Katherine’s preview location (which also happened to be her luxurious apartment in SoHo), to her display of bags and Chinese finger foods, the night was a slam-dunk.
As we walked in, fashionistas were everywhere! Some were around the Chinese knot-making station. Yes, Katherine taught her signature knotting technique, and some folks were feasting on traditional Chinese treats, such as potstickers and Peking duck. Others were admiring Katherine’s new collection. We were part of the group admiring the collection.
Our thoughts on the collection? We want everything and we’ll die for it! Metallic, tie-dye, and animal print were the main focus of the collection and we all know that Lindsay and I are not ones to complain about sparkly things, animal prints, or a good statement piece. Once we got over the initial shock of seeing everything we like, we were able to regain our strength by sampling some of the tasty Chinese treats, just waiting to be eaten. My favorites were the shrimp dumpling and chocolate-covered fortune cookie, which was made specifically for the event.
Before Lindsay and I could leave, we spoke to Katherine for a bit and took a photo with some of our favorite bags from Katherine’s S/S 2011 collection. I am pictured sporting one of her clutches, while Lindsay is rocking a satchel. As you can see, we love the metallic look.
I can’t wait for Katherine’s entire S/S 2011 collection to hit stores but in the meantime, check out more of her beautifully crafted handbags on www.katherinekwei.com. —Katrina Caspelich
I love the leopard trend this fall. The latest collection of Lanvin bags–Devine! I recommend their Leopard-Print Happy Shoulder Bag for that 50s-inspired ladylike look. And while leopard print is hot this season, a leopard accessory is always chic. This Lanvin bag is truly a timeless investment piece. For a less expensive option (read: totally affordable), Target carries the Melie Bianco Leopard Clutch for $27.98.—Melissa Meyers, Founding Editor & CEO
Be seen sporting one of my favorite bags of the season. This Melie Bianco hobo combines two of this season’s hottest trends–sequins and chain straps. Big enough for everyday errands but small enough for a night on the town, this is definitely one of my “go to” bags. Personally, I love the gold color, but if you want something more toned down, it also comes in pewter or black.–Katrina Caspelich
A traditionally British brand, Mulberry makes the most amazing classic bags, clutches, and purses. This is my new favorite—the Oversized Ava suede clutch. The softest leather, the perfect size, the shiniest gold buttons. The.Best.Bag.Ever.—Hattie MacAndrews
