Attention Kmart Shoppers and Non-Kmart Shoppers:
Sofia Vergara Launches Her New Clothing Line at Kmart
Sofia Vergara, star of the wildly popular show Modern Family, just launched a fabulously “modern” line of clothing for Kmart. I attended the launch event where Sofia presented the sexy budget-conscious clothing and told us why she created this line: “I always wanted to do something like this with a store like Kmart for normal women with normal budgets or small budgets. I wanted to create a line that was going to be good for anyone, any size, any ethnicity, any color, and very affordable…every woman wants to feel cute.”
Sofia says she was inspired by designers like Dolce and Gabbana and Donna Karan; think ruched tops in bright colors, leopard prints, cool pumps with a Brian Atwood-esque square toe box, slouchy bags…everything is very wearable and within budget! I was impressed by the quality and the details for the price point. Everything is between $16.99 – $59.99. If you’ve never bought clothing from Kmart, now would be the time to try it. Below are pics of some of my favorites…

It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten up before 9 a.m. for a yoga class—or anything else not completely mandatory! This past Tuesday, however, I was invited to wake up to a yoga class and a brand new outfit by Athleta.
I didn’t really know what to expect, but when I stepped off the elevator of Yoga Sutra’s new 39th Street studio in New York, I was pleasantly surprised by a beautiful array of food, and a room full of yoga clothing provided by Athleta
Athleta, a brand under the Gap umbrella, provides female athletes and yogis, both recreational and competitive, with comfortable yet fashionable athletic wear. I have to say the fabrics are lovely, very soft, and easy to wear for yoga. I picked the Organic Cotton Chela Capri and Shirred Organic Cotton Cami in raspberry. I loved the feel of fabrics, and that at the end of the yoga class I still felt dry. I can definitely see these 2 pieces working their way into my urban wardrobe. I absolutely love workout clothes that I can wear from the office to the studio without looking like a gym rat.
I’m looking forward to my next class, where I can show off my new threads Thanks, Athleta! —Olivia Hayes
Dear Marc Jacobs:
Can I ask you a favor? Would you please design a children’s clothing line for Gap Kids? Pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry? Stella did. Tag, you’re it!
Here’s the thing—it’s not always easy being short. You’re always asking for help to reach things. Your pants always need to be hemmed. And someone’s head is always in the way at movies. But this summer, I discovered Stella McCartney for Gap Kids, one humongous perk to being 5’3”. (Fine, almost. I rounded up, ok?) I had gone to get my daughter a bathing suit. Mission accomplished, but that’s not the fun part. That honor belongs to Stella. Not only were her sheer peasant-style blouses for kids sexy and feminine, they were practically free compared to grown-up clothes, much less designer clothes. Better yet, by the time I discovered them, they were on sale! So, I scooped up several pieces in kids XL, and my adult XS wardrobe is very pleased.
But now, fall fashion is upon us, and those little cuties need a dash of leopard and a splash of sequins to call their own—and so do their little mommies!
Old Navy has introduced new technology to help with an age-old question: Does my butt look big in these jeans? Old Navy’s newest “team member,” Booty Reader Madame Eva, is an expert at finding the perfect fit jeans for every body type. I had so much fun with this! I uploaded a picture of my booty, and she “revealed” the best fit for me— Old Navy Diva, Sweetheart, and Rock Star Fit. I can tell they’d be a great match for me, since they would help tame my curves while still showing off my flat tummy and round bottom. I should highlight my “enviable backside” according to Madame Eva. Upload your picture and have fun with a unique approach to interactive online shopping! — Daniela Apeloig
