Shiny jerseys and over-sized basketball shorts are the farthest thing from fashion for court-side divas. But we have good news: representing your favorite basketball team just got a lot more interesting if you are a fashion lover and fan. Fashion designer Rachel Roy and basketball player Amar’e Stoudemire have teamed up to create a pro look for sports-loving fashionistas. The line RACHEL features these athletic-inspired pieces from a mixed media leather & canvas Letterman jacket to a Chicago Bulls “Rocker” tee and more. The pleasantly simple jersey tees along with the heathered sweatshirts are embellished with team logos. With Amar’e’s head in the game and Rachel’s style, this dynamic duo perfectly bridges the look of chic masculine-feminine. These pieces are not only great for looking cool court-side but they are perfect to wear to dinner or a party. The limited edition line is comfortable and casual–I am loving the leather shorts and hooded vest. Prices range from $49.00 to $229.00 with various sizes from extra small to extra large. You can order online from the Rachel Roy on-line store or at Macy’s.
Watch this fun video where Rachel interviews Amar’e and talks about their interesting collaboration:
Big girls glam it up when it comes to the Oscar red-carpet—the Oscar dress, the red-carpet jewelry. But what are Hollywood’s hottest actresses wearing the morning after? For everyday celebrity jewelry, they go Barbie. Barbie jewelry means never having to say goodbye to your childhood favorite. How kid-chic cool is that? So excited we could just plant a big wet one on Ken!
I Got the Idea for the Barbie Rocks by Layna and Alan Jewelry Collection When
We designed a beautiful pink diamond pendant to be auctioned for the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation.
Celebrities Wearing the Barbie Rocks Line Include
The Kardashian sisters, Heidi Klum, Selena Gomez, Denise Richards and her daughters, Teri Hatcher and daughter, Leighton Meester, and many more.
Stars Love Barbie Because
The sweetness of the collection, the feminine quality, and that Barbie brings us back to our childhood while addressing our big-girl love of diamonds and precious metals. Everyone I meet has a Barbie story. Some spent hours dressing her and imagining her various careers. One day she was a nurse, another day a vet. She was a fashion model, a housewife, a mermaid, and an athlete. She made everything look glamorous and fun and inspired, and she empowered little girls. Guys have great stories about taking Barbie on a date with their GI Joe or a superhero action figure.
The Celebs Love Barbie Rocks Pieces, Such As
The rose gold and pink sapphire pendant, the black-diamond silhouette pendant, and the cognac pendant. The custom vintage oval pendant with pink and white diamonds in a full silhouette is also very popular.
The Barbie Rocks Collection Also Includes
Sterling silver pendants, bracelets, and dog tags from $74 to $395, as well as 14k- and 18k-gold jewelry, such as a diamond ponytail holder for $895. The luxe pendants have pink and yellow sapphires or black, white, and cognac diamonds; and the custom vintage pieces have pink diamonds—all $1,400 and up.
Barbie Rocks Jewelry Gives Back, Donating
5% percent of all sales worldwide to the Children Affected by AIDs Foundation, and jewelry to its annual Dream Halloween auction.
My Favorite Pieces in the Collection
Are the pendants with the natural-colored diamonds, and the triple-charm bracelet with the most adorable shoe, with green tsavorites and an 18k-gold and pink-enamel bow, and a tiny purse in white gold with blue and pink sapphires.
I Love Barbie Because
She was a special friend growing up, and now my daughter Nicole-Juliet and I have a special bond knowing she is growing up with the same inspirational doll. We love to wear matching jewelry pieces, and I love to share with my girlfriends as well.
If a Barbie Doll Were Named for Me, It Would Be
Romance Barbie.
Being on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Was
Fun and we loved Taylor’s enthusiasm for the collection. The little girls were so excited to receive the round silhouette pendant as party favors. They all wore them at the party.

When you think of Valentine’s Day, what comes to mind? February 14. Red. Hearts. Love. Get your red on a little earlier this February with National Wear Red Day.
Wear Your Little Red Dress for the American Heart Association
As part of the national campaign to raise women’s awareness of heart disease, the American Heart Association and other organizations named the first Friday in February National Wear Red Day. With February 4 right around the corner, you don’t need to wait for Valentine’s Day to break out your red dress.
But if the idea of wearing red has you seeing red, relax that all-black-clad body of yours! Red can be as versatile. Just follow these 5 steps to working a red dress with your favorite look, whether it’s feminine, classic, edgy, or boho. You’ll see it’s just as easy to throw on a little red dress as your go-to LBD. The hard part? Deciding which perfect red dress to wear!
Red Dress Wearing Step 1:
Find The Right Red Dress for You
How to find the perfect LRD? When you shop for a red dress, look for a cut that flatters your figure, for a shade that highlights your complexion, for a style that suits your needs. You’ll have plenty of dress choices, from flowing to fitted, from crimson to cranberry, from corporate to cocktail party. And if you thought “sexy” and “maternity dress” were a contradiction in terms, these 2 red dresses from Isabella Oliver will make you think again. Everyone can be chic and sexy in a red dress. Check out our favorite red dresses, all between $55 and $100.
Wear a Red Dress Step 2:
To Wear a Little Red Dress, Address Your Legs
What to wear, what to wear when it comes to your legs and your little red dress? Consider the climate, the occasion, the dress length, and the look you want. For warm weather, try a bare leg dressed up with a self-tanner. For a bit more coverage, opt for ultrasheer pantyhose. If you need to tighten those thighs or flatten that tummy, make those hose control-top. To keep your gams from getting goosebumps, black opaque or semi-opaque tights work day or night, as do those with a black tone-on-tone pattern like rib or cable. For a dressy occasion, you’ll love your little red dress with black lace pantyhose. Stretch your wardrobe budget—your little red dress turns tunic when paired with black leggings or dark-wash skinny jeans.
Rock the Red Dress Step 3:
A Little Red Dress NEEDS the Right Shoes & Boots & Sandals
Don’t you just love it when you can say need and shoes in the same sentence?! Black footwear works perfectly with any little red dress, but the style you choose sets your overall look. For classic, vintage, or sexy chic, pointy toe is the way to go: kitten-heel slingback by day, killer stiletto by night. And depending on your favorite black boot style—over-the-knee, high heel, motorcycle, bootie—you can go ladylike chic to rocker-fashion-chick with one LRD. For bare legs and boho chic, try flat gold sandals, jeweled for night.
Accent the Red Dress Look Step 4:
Say It with Accessories When You Wear a Red Dress
Being completely dressed doesn’t mean your look’s complete. You’ve got the dress, the hosiery, the footwear. Now, go forth and accessorize! To downplay the flash of a little red dress, skip the major bling and statement handbags: keep it simple. From handbags to jewelry, work with what you already own. A slouchy black bag and leather cuff bracelet? Perfect for hippie chic. An envelope clutch and strands of pearls? You’ve got a stylish classic. A small, sparkly purse and large cocktail ring? You’re ready to paint the town red.
Perfect Red Dress Step 5:
When a Little Red Dress Isn’t Enough, You Need an Extra Layer
From overactive A/C to winter wind chill, the cold can kill your look when you don’t have the right extra layer to wear over your LRD. Again, black is always the safe option, and chances are you—or someone you love to borrow from—already owns the perfect black piece for layering. The always-classic fitted little cardigan is spot-on for day, a ballet-style wrap sweater can go day-to-night, and a beaded, sequined, or otherwise embellished cardigan or shrug takes you toward dressy. Don’t own a black pashmina? You know 10 people who do—make nice! Or take a classic chic or feminine look a little edgy with a fitted black leather jacket.
No matter which perfect red dress you wear on February 4, now you can participate with style in the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day!
Clare Guerrero Vivier’s Handbag Trunk Show
I was already a fan of L.A.-based handbag designer Clare Guerrero Vivier when I attended her trunk show at the über-hip fashion emporium Steven Alan. Her purse collection embodies a certain timeless French chic (she’s married to a French TV documentary producer and spends a fair amount of the year in France with her husband and son). I like her socially conscious ethos—the entire collection is produced in L.A. to support the local economy, create jobs, and reduce her carbon footprint.
Oversized Evening Clutch Created as Laptop Case Steals Show
At the trunk show, I was mesmerized by her oversized laptop clutches. All I could think was WHY HASN’T ANYONE DONE THIS BEFORE???? It seemed so obvious and so ingenious! Clare originally created the laptop clutch on a whim when she was living in France, working as a laptop-toting journalist for French television. She is obviously on to something—the ever-fashionable China Chow and Rashida Jones are fans of the laptop case.
A chic daytime laptop case that does double duty as an oversized clutch for evening?
So brilliant! The laptop-case-turned-purse comes in pebbled lambskin, leather, and patent leather, and in a gorgeous array of colors, including brown, black, camel, and red. Each has a rich, tactile feel. Vivier’s bags are also available in limited-edition remnant leathers. Add a pompom to truly make the clutch your own. Clare mixes fine fabrics, including silk, linen, liberty prints, and Japanese grosgrain ribbons to make the pompoms, and each is unique. They could easily be on the Marni runway, but instead, they come from L.A. and cost $20. How much do you love that?!
