Get the Look of Estate Gems: Jewelry from Ramona Singer’s New Line on HSN

Between wrapping up filming for Season Five of the Real Housewives of New York City and launching a new wine, one of our favorite housewives and my friend Ramona Singer has also added a new collection to her jewelry line for HSN.  This new collection includes some fun art deco pieces inspired by old Hollywood glamour — just like the ones you saw all over the red carpet this past awards season. If you miss seeing Ramona in action and are waiting patiently for next seasons RHONY, check out her third year anniversary show with HSN on March 14th at 5 pm.  You can also shop her collection online.  Here are some of my favorite pieces:

White Topaz & Diamond with Black Enamel Sterling Silver Earrings, $339.90
These dramatic earrings are perfect if you need a great pair of earrings to wear to a cocktail party or a black tie. I love how the black enamel makes the silver and diamonds pop.

White Topaz Sterling Silver Oval Pendant, $399.90
This statement pendant is special and looks very vintage chic. Wear it with a shift dress or even a crisp white button down and pants — a great addition to any accessories collection.

Bezel-Set Gem Station Sterling Silver Necklace, $374.90
Ramona gave me this gorgeous necklace for my birthday and it became my go-to piece during fashion week.  It’s so on-trend, goes with so many outfits, and is great for layering with other jewelry.

Ramona Singer is an astute businesswoman and a true aficionado of fashion with a passion for being a wife and mother. In addition to her role on BRAVO’s The Real Housewives of New York City, Ramona has taken the beauty and accessory industries by storm.
She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, with a B.S. Degree in Business. Ramona started her professional career thirty years ago as a buyer for Macy’s, and then created her first company RMS Fashions, Inc. Her businesses include Tru Renewal skin care, True Faith Jewelry, Ramona Singer Collections on Amazon and most notably, Ramona Singer Jewelry for HSN. Her line of pendants, bracelets, earrings and rings, priced $200 and up, was inspired by her love for estate and art deco, which she says she adores because it is timeless. Having conquered the design world, Ramona was inspired to create a skin care line, Tru Renewal, after struggling to find products she herself could use that were effective, yet free of chemicals that could potentially harm and irritate her skin. Her entrepreneurial skills have received praise from media industry giants such as Women’s Wear Daily, FoxBusiness, People, and Examiner to name a few. Ramona’s newest venture has her expanding to the wine world with Ramona Pinot Grigio.

Catching up with Wonder Woman Avis Richards

Avis Richards’ dedication to philanthropy is paramount. The Founder of Birds Nest Foundation, a non-profit organization that produces documentaries, short videos and PSA’s for a multitude of well deserving and under-represented charities, Avis Richards brings passion, zeal and energy to every project she takes on–raising much needed attention to lesser known charities and promoting awareness for their meaningful causes. This New York based mother of two has teamed up with New Yorkers and A-list celebrities to produce films for the charities of Goldie Hawn, Michael Bolton, Andre Agassi, John Legend and many others. I met Avis last summer and was so impressed by all of her talents and love of giving. The award-winning producer shares some of her interesting history, opinions and lifestyle secrets.

MM: What inspired you to start the Birds Nest Foundation?
AR: Seven years ago, I noticed a lack of quality media content for non-profits. Many of these non-profits spent large sums of money on production companies to get their word out. That’s money that could be going to a good cause, so I stepped in. It’s really all about giving back through media and giving non-profits a voice.

MM: I love the foundation’s appellation. Is there a special meaning behind it?
AR: Well, “Avis” means “bird” in Latin, so that was part of the name. But also, Birds Nest is always “hatching” new creative ideas, both beautiful and impactful once they leave the nest.

MM: As a crusader for Healthy Movement, a primary focus is improving and educating Americans about proper nutritional habits, especially for our youth; why is childhood nutrition so important to you?
AR: 12.5 million children are obese. Diabetes has increased nine-fold in the past 25 years. As a parent with two wonderful children, nutrition is especially important. I’ve gone to schools; I’ve seen what children eat. We need nutrition education for kids and adults, as this problem is a national concern.

Edit New York: Melissa’s Fave Upper East Side Shopping Spot (and one of Leighton and Blake’s, too!)

One of my fave places to shop on the Upper East Side is Edit New York – I live in all the clothes I buy there!  They carefully “edit” the best styles from designer brands like Alexander Wang, Rag and Bone and Phillip Lim and offer great personalized service.  One of my favorite go-to dresses is a T by Alexander Wang black dress that I bought there last season.  I paired it with a the cutest fur vest by Rebecca Taylor, also from Edit.  For fall, I love this gorgeous Proenza Schouler dress and the sand-washed ruffle side dress from Thakoon, two of my favorite designers.  Shopping in Edit’s gorgeous and townhouse is just divine. I am not alone here–Gossip Girls Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were just spotted shopping there recently!

Designer Yigal Azrouel Teams Up with FITiST for a Fashionable Fall

Two things we are all about at PageDaily are fashion and fitness. That’s why we just couldn’t help but share that one of our favorite designers Yigal Azrouel has teamed up with FITiST, a unique new fitness membership plan incorporating multiple studios and classes, to create a “Fit for Fall” plan that’s a great deal. Instead of just having a membership to one gym or many memberships to studios that offer different kind of classes, the invite-only site allows you to manage your memberships to some of New York’s hottest workout destinations on one platform.

With “Fit for Fall” you get 6 Indoor Cycling Classes, 4 Performance Classes and 4 Yoga Classes for a total of 14 classes a month for $350. These are some of Yigal’s fave workouts when he isn’t surfing. Plus, he’s hooking FITiST members up with $100 to spend at his Meatpacking boutique and one of his signature scarves, for free! Stylish perks for staying fit? Yes please!

Simple Summer Updos From Roy Teeluck

Hot temps and high humidity make it difficult to look elegant and effortless, particularly in the hair department. Roy Teeluck (of the eponymous Roy Teeluck Salon in New York and Miami) to the rescue with easy updos to get that hair out of your face and off your neck, and tips and tricks for the hautest hot-weather hair ever.

Sheckys: What’s an easy way to create an elegant updo this summer?

Roy Teeluck: Summer updos should be unfussy and unstructured. One of my favorite looks right now is a ballerina bun. Gather hair in a ponytail at nape of neck, securing with an elastic, then twist hair strands as you roll it into a bun. Secure with bobby pins. The bun shouldn’t be perfect; let a few loose ends stick out for added softness.

S: What’s your go-to updo suggestion for a girl who doesn’t have a ton of time?

RT: For shorter hairstyles, take a dime size amount of L’Oreal Professionnel’s Or Graphic Golden Modelling Gelee*, smooth in palms, and distribute through hair to add texture and hold. Think of Ginnifer Goodwin’s punky short cut.

For longer hairstyles, a ponytail is always classic and chic. To keep it from looking too girly, gather hair at nape of neck in a loose ponytail, secure with elastic, and gather a few strands to wrap around elastic. Secure ends with bobby pins.

S: What are your top three hair product essentials for creating the perfect updo?

RT: L’Oreal Professionnel Infinium Hairspray for hold, L’Oreal Professionnel Smooth Essence Weightless Smoother to smooth the hair cuticle and bobby pins in a range of sizes. Use ones that most closely match your hair color.

S: Any summer hair tips to keep in mind during this heat?!

RT: Minimize use of styling tools such as blow dryers and flat irons. An excellent cut and the right product will allow you to make the most of your hair’s natural texture. Don’t fight it, work with it!

P.S.: Roy also loves L’Oreal Professionnel’s Liss Ultime line; created specifically to tame frizz. The Perfecting Serum is fantastic for addressing rebellious strands and adding shine. Rub a small dab in your palms and run through ends and lightly around hair line.

To Eat: The Meatball Shop, 84 Stanton Street, NY, NY (212) 982-8895

Why We  It:

The wait is usually pretty long (but so worth it!), and now that temps are rising, it’ll be much more comfortable to dilly dally while you wait!

Their homemade ice cream sandwiches allow you to mix and match their ice cream flavors with their cookies, resulting in absolute heaven. Now that summer is approaching, they’re pretty much a must-eat.

If waiting isn’t your thing, you can always get take-out and enjoy the deliciousness on the go!

To Relax: Ten Over Ten, 112 Reade Street, NY, NY (212) 406-1010

Why We  It:

This downtown nail salon feels like a relaxed apartment.

iPads are available for all manicure or pedicure clients so you can get things done and/or relax while you indulge.

Vintage décor enhances the ambiance of this chic yet low-key space.

To Shop: Green Depot, 222 Bowery NY, NY and other national locations (212) 226-0444

Why We  It:

They have a ton of outdoor and gardening supplies so that you can really utilize your green thumb this season.

Their tagline is “environmental building and living” so if you wish to get green in other areas, this is your place!

Even if you have nothing on your list, this is a great store to browse and gain inspiration for future projects.

To Shop: Calypso St. Barth, 13 locations in New York City and other national locations

Why We  It:

These oh-so-summery pieces totally channel the beach.

They currently have a diffusion line at Target for way reasonable prices!

Love the Bead Pom Pom Tunic ($225). It’s a little expensive, but so perfect for the seashore.

To Eat: Eataly, 200 5th Avenue, NY, NY (212) 229-2560

Why We  It:

This Italian Candyland is really quite indescribable. Part market, part restaurant(s), whole amazingness.

Though no official date has been confirmed, a rooftop beer garden is set to open any day now…which will be perfect come the warmer months!

Whether you’re looking to cook up an Italian feast at home, chow down on one or simply browse, don’t be surprised if you end up staying in Eataly for hours.

To Stay: Blue Moon, 100 Orchard Street, NY, NY (212) 533-9080

Why We  It:

Located on the Lower East Side in a 19th-century tenement, this hotel gives off a very unique vibe.

The space feels completely old-school with sleek and sophisticated modern touches like quaint balconies and terraces off many (generously spacious) guest rooms.

Complimentary continental breakfast is available every morning with delicious food, including bagels from famed Kossar’s.

Beauty & Essex—The IT Place!

beauty-essex-blog

Do you want to feel like a celebrity or socialite in New York for a night? If your answer is no, you might want to change your mind. If you answered yes—I like your attitude—follow my instructions: check out Beauty & Essex, the new IT place for dining and drinks, from the owners of Stanton Social.

If you ask for a dinner reservation, you may be told the only opening is at 10:30 p.m. Take it! Just remember to eat a snack around 7:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m.to avoid starvation. Take your time choosing your outfit; you have to look the part. Break out a pair of your highest heels, sport that metallic dress, wear that hot new shade of red lipstick, and add a final touch with that sparkly clutch.

Once you get there,in the heart of the Lower East Side, it’s all about attitude. You’ll see a line at the door, but since you are a V.I.P. you’ll go straight to the host, who will check your name on an iPad and let you in. You’llenter the restaurant through a pawn shop—so cool! Once you get into the actual dining space, a big spiral staircase and a beautiful chandelier will welcome you. You’ll be seated in about 20 minutes, so in the meantime you’ll order a drink at the bar and maybe take a look upstairs. There, you’ll find a cozy, modern lounge and an amazing lamp made out of large pearl necklaces. I will not explain every detail of the decor, so you can find out for yourselves!

I do have to say that the ambiance of the place is amazing; you will feel like a celebrity and think everyone there is one too. The server told me that I looked familiar and asked me if I was famous, and of course I had to go along with it. I said that I was famous back home in Venezuela, where I did Latin soap operas, and those were my 15 minutes of fame. I actually did spot some celebrities the evening I visited Beauty & Essex. I saw John Mayer, who told my friend that it wasn’t a “flash-appropriate” night because he was hanging by himself. I also saw Vienna Girardi, the winner of The Bachelor Season 14, who was dressed with sexy knee-high boots and posing on the stairs like a real celeb. Other celebs that have stopped by Beauty & Essex include Ashley Olsen, Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rutherford, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Ali Fedotowsky.

The food was extraordinary; chef Chris Santos’s menu of tapas and small plates is designed for sharing at the table with friends and family. The food is multi-ethnic in inspiration and casually elegant. My favorites included the Tomato Tartare with a Sunny-Side-Up Quail Egg, the General Tso’s Monkfish, the Yellowtail Crudo, the Kobe Beef Carpaccio, the Branzino, and the Charred Shishito Peppers. Finger-licking good!

Follow my instructions and you’ll have a great time feeling like a celebrity for the night! —Daniela Apeloig

DKNY Cozy Style-Off Breakfast: A New York Girl’s Dream Come True

DKNY_Blog

There are certain things that instantly come to mind when one thinks of New York City: Rockefeller Center, Broadway shows, shopping on 5th Avenue, and of course—for anyone with even a glimmering interest in fashion—DKNY. There’s no other designer who understands the aesthetic of the New York woman like Donna Karan, and also no one who understands the intricacies of the world of fashion PR like DKNY’s PR team. Seriously, if you don’t follow @DKNY on Twitter you are missing out, not only on an inside look at the incredible world of Donna Karan, but also the most hilariously snarky Gossip Girl tweets and important lessons in PR101. So when PageDaily was invited to participate in the DKNY Cozy Style-Off, I jumped at the opportunity to have the geniuses at DKNY teach me the ways of the Cozy, and to meet the personalities behind this social media powerhouse!

If you aren’t familiar with the DKNY Cozy then prepare to meet my new fashion obsession. The DKNY Cozy sweater is not only incredibly soft and, well, cozy, but also features extra fabric in the front so that in can be styled in an unbelievable number of ways. Wrapped, twisted, tied: no matter how you style it, the Cozy remains chic and versatile. DKNY advertises 12 ways in which the Cozy can be worn, but knew that fashionistas and Cozy fans could come up with more. Thus, DKNY invited PageDaily and others to participate in the Cozy Style-Off.

I arrived at the DKNY store on Madison Avenue and was instantly greeted by the fabulous DKNY PR team and DKNY PR Girl herself, looking incredibly chic in the brand’s feather-trimmed mini, black cashmere tee, and layers of pearls. Guests were treated to a breakfast complete with fresh fruit, salmon carpaccio, and cookies shaped like taxis and smartphones. Then the styling began. With so much to choose from, and such a wide variety of Cozy styles and colors, it was easy to get overwhelmed. Luckily, we were also treated to the expertise of the DKNY team, and my new hero Ronnie picked out a gorgeous strapless dress with a black and gold floral brocade, black hosiery, the Aura suede wedge (which I purchased as an early Christmas gift to myself, of course), and a black Cozy with a little bit of gold sparkle. I must admit, I was feeling pretty fabulous!

All of the guests were photographed in their DKNY best, each wearing the Cozy in a unique way. And here’s the catch: DKNY will be posting the photos on its Facebook Fanpage for YOU to vote on! The creator of the look that receives the most “likes” by December 10 will not only win bragging rights, but also some fabulous DKNY prizes. So here I go with a little shameless self-promotion: GO ON AND VOTE FOR PAGEDAILY! Each guest, however, already feels like a winner, since we were all treated to a FREE DKNY Cozy of our own in black, the perfect closet staple for any New York woman! Talk about a perfect morning in NYC! —Kate Bryan
