NYFW Spring 2013 Makeup Trends

Fashion week’s bevy of beautiful models had their natural beauty highlighted for Spring 2013. Eyes, lids, brows, and lips were the focus: soft, feature-enhancing makeup and bold, modern looks both reigned on the runways. From iconic images of the past to scenes in nature, makeup artists drew inspiration from a variety of muses and really mixed the old with the new. We can’t wait to try out these fresh trends next spring!

7 Sites That Need to be on Your Web Radar

We are living in a world of information overload these days so how do you know which websites and newsletters are worth your time? After scouring the e-world, I put together a list of my favorite online destinations that are perfect for fashion and lifestyle junkies.

1. Edition01:
Edition01 is the first online luxury experience designed to spotlight and sell limited edition fashion pieces from leading designers in one of a kind capsule collections. Collaborating with Vera Wang, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez and Thakoon (to name a few), founders Estefania Lacayo and Jessica Wilpon Kamel offer you a unique shopping and lifestyle experience which has already been touted by Vogue, WWD and Marie Claire to name a few. Their minimalistic and inviting web site is blog style making it very easy to shop their collections which are grouped by designers and lifestyle categories (“Travel Boutique”). You can also have a personalized shopping experience by using their “My Edition” feature to track what you want, need and bought and get recommendations for building your perfect wardrobe. I love that Edition01 goes beyond just shopping and gives you behind the scenes fashion intel in their Journal, stocked with insider interviews, celebrity essentials and designer inspirations.

My Fave Luxurious Designer Furs and a Special Discount for PageDaily Readers

I recently visited Pologeorgis, one of the finest fur showrooms in New York City and a best-kept secret for many celebutantes. They specialize in creating the fur collections of some of my favorite designers like Michael Kors, Zac Posen and Chris Benz among others. If you’re in the market for a designer fur this season, here are my spend or splurge picks:

Zandra Rhodes for Pologeorgis Black Mink Jacket, $4,000
I love the look of a waist-length mink jacket. This collarless style has 3/4 length sleeves and is flattering on everyone because of its shape. Looks great with day dresses, black tie or skinny jeans and boots. I am wearing it here with a fitted Jay Godfrey shift dress that I recently purchased.

Zandra Rhodes for Pologeorgis Dyed Black Sheared Opossum Jacket, $995
This jacket is a lot of look for less and is constructed just like the mink. It’s very soft and you can wear it with many different outfits. Has a similar feel to sheared mink.

Zac Posen for Pologeorgis Natural Chinchilla Bolero, $12,000
This Chinchilla jacket is an all-around winner with it’s gorgeous color and chic style. It’s super luxe yet works day to night. I have never felt anything softer!

Dyed Chinchilla Rabbit Jacket Designed by Pologeorgis Furs, $1,200
This fun fur is dyed for the same look of chinchilla but at a fraction of the price. I just got one as an anniversary gift…LOVE!

All available in sizes S-M-L; XS can also be ordered. Contact Jenny Roberts at jenny@pologeorgis.com or call her at (212) 563-2250 to order.

Fashion Week SS2012: Favorite Fashion Round-up

Fashion Week was a whirlwind of  outrageous styles, sky-high heels, glamorous parties and celebrity sightings. We spyed Emma Roberts, Alexa Chung, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Stam, Beyonce, Heidi Klum, Johnny Weir, Nigel Barker, Olivia Palermo, Ramona Singer, Whitney Port, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kelly Rutherford and Kourtney Kardashian, among others. Everyone loves to spot the celebs at Lincoln Center but fashion week is really about the designers and showcasing their new collections for Spring 2012. What shows stuck out in our mind?  Read on for our Fashion Week faves!

Zac Posen is known for ultra-feminine and figure-flattering styles (see picture above). This season he went retro chic, too, and we loved it!  Flirty dresses in fab prints and colorful solids.  No wonder he is a celeb red carpet favorite.

Rag and Bone was sporty with hoods, drawstrings and pops of neon orange. Super young and fresh!

Rebecca Taylor was also a feminine favorite with muted grays, flowy florals and lace cutouts.

We loved Diane von Furstenberg’s use of lace and color blocking. Her clothes were very wearable, as usual!

The Pamella Roland presentation rocked with models that turned up the attitude with dramatic poses and chic shades! Gowns and sequins galore, real Hollywood glamour.

Rachel Roy’s last look was absolutely breathtaking: a fabulous blue dress with a dramatic back was our hands-down favorite.

Models at Elie Tahari donned tailored pieces paired with gladiator boot-sandals for a Greco-Roman look. Tailored and at the same time feminine.

Ralph Lauren was total modern elegance. Think silk pastels with feather and sequin accents…very Spring!

This year Christian Siriano’s collection was his signature oversized chiffon ruffles and edgy footwear meets J.Crew-esque nautical striped tees. (PS, Did you know you can get wearable versions of his glam shoes at Payless?)

Jill Stuart used lots of pastels including pale coral, yellow and blue. There was a great mixture of pants, dresses, flowy skirts and silk fabrics in solids and soft ethereal prints (lots of Hermes orange too!).

Yigal Azrouel’s contemporary line Cut25 used color blocking to create a line of flawless casual basics. Sporty, clean lines reminiscent of 80’s surf culture.

Narciso Rodriguez’ collection was full of graphic prints, pretty below-the-knee shift dresses and lavender. Feminine and modern.

Donna Karan featured tribal prints and flattering fits with lots of a-line styles. Favorite cocktail dress: short purple, one shoulder number with perfect ruching.

Michael Kors went for an African-inspired collection with flowing earth tone fabrics and neutral animal prints. The accessories (bags and belts!) were the highlight.

Prabal Gurung had one of the best collections we have seen! Lots of violet, fabulous use of sheer fabrics and prints, black and white.  Simply gorgeous…We want everything!

Helmut Lang is one of our all time favorite designers and this edgy collection did not disappoint.  We love his signature use of draping in severe black and white with a splash of daffodil yellow for spring.
